This has been one Christmas to remember for ASU. On Christmas Eve the Sun Devils received a pledge…
Strong discusses top five teams
"South Carolina actually just offered me, finally, so that's the newest offer for me.
"One thing that I want everyone to know is how thankful I am that every school that offered and recruited me took the time to do that and I really appreciated every coach I met in the process," Strong said. "Unfortunately, you have to cut things down and start to narrow it down to a list and so I have eliminated a lot of schools that ended up offering me, so I want them to know that I really appreciated it and it humbled me and made me want to work harder."
As far as his top five are concerned, Strong gave the reasons each made his list and said he plans to visit at least three of them in January.
Tennessee - "I've had a good relationship with the coaches there and I really liked a receiver they had there recently, Da' Rick Rogers. I play the game like him and I've talked to him and, unfortunately he isn't there any more, but he said he thought I'd fit in great there and said it was a good place, just not the right place for him."
South Carolina - "Like I said, I just my offer from them. I'd been waiting on it for a while, so when it came it was a big relief for me. I've got a great relationship with the staff there too and I love Alshon Jeffery. He's a big-time receiver and he's gone on to great things there at South Carolina and also with the Chicago Bears so their offense uses their receivers well."
Miami - "Brennan Carroll has been recruiting me for a while and I have a real good relationship with him. They've laid out the plan for me to get in there and get ready to play right away (in 2013). That's been pretty cool to see."
Arizona State - "Like Miami, they've laid out a plan and they have even started acting on it already. They showed me the schedule they would have for me and that really showed a lot of effort on their part and showed me how much they wanted me to be part of their team."
Texas Tech - "Coach (Sonny) Cumbie came out to see me and Beau Sandland like three or four times, so they showed me how interested they were in me almost from the start. I like them a lot."
As far as visits are concerned, as mentioned earlier, he plans to take them in January, but none have been set at this point.
"I know that I'm going to visit ASU, Texas Tech and Miami for sure," Strong noted. "I haven't set the dates for them yet, but I will be doing that really soon here.
"As far as the SEC (South Carolina and Tennessee) schools, I will have to redshirt for a year while I get my classes taken care of. The SEC doesn't take online classes, so I have some classes I have to take if I choose to go to either of those schools."
As a sophomore this past season, Strong managed to lead the Brahmas, who finished the season 9-2, with 67 receptions for 1,263 yards and 15 touchdowns.
He plans to sign with a school in February and would have three years to play three starting next fall if he signs with a school not in the SEC.
If he signs with an SEC school, he would have to take the 2013 year off while getting his academics squared away and would have two years to play two starting in 2014.
We will continue to keep track of Strong and will update news as it happens with him.
